The Aleksandar Tišma Foundation was founded in August 2016. Its purpose is the affirmation, popularization and exploration of the work and personality of the writer and member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts Aleksandar Tišma (1924-2003). One of the main activities of the Foundation is the awarding of the International Literature Prize “Aleksandar Tišma”. The prize is awarded every two years to the best writer for his or her entire body of work or for the singular pieces, written and published in any world language, translated and published in one of the European languages – German, English and French.
The prize comprises a plaque and a cash prize of 10.000 Euros.
